Dr. Eric To, OD, FSLS
Dr. Eric To is a board-certified optometrist who is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society. He is extremely passionate about helping patients achieve their highest levels of visual potential. He is DPA and TPA/TPG certified, which means he can effectively use high-performance pharmaceutical agents to diagnose and treat ocular diseases.
Dr. To studied Sociology and Biology at the University of California, Riverside, and obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. With a background in mentoring and tutoring underserved children, Dr. To is dedicated to ensuring that all patients leave his exam room with a complete understanding of their visual system and eye health.
Dr. Valerie Hoshizaki, OD, FAAO
Dr. Valerie L. Hoshizaki is a residency-trained optometrist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry.
After graduation, Dr. Hoshizaki was chosen by the post-doctoral residency program at the Southern California College of Optometry to further develop her specialty lens-fitting technique. She is excited to be a part of the Lumen team to continue her passion for fitting specialty contact lenses and to provide the most excellent care for all her patients.
Dr. Sissi He, OD
Dr. Sissi He received her Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, followed by her Optometry Doctorate from Southern California College of Optometry, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received many awards during her academic years, including the Gas Permeable Lens Institute Clinical Excellence Award.
After graduation, Dr. He was accepted into a highly competitive Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at Pacific University College of Optometry near Portland, Oregon. During the residency program, she exclusively worked with patients and veterans who had corneal conditions that required specialty contact lenses. She is dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients in helping them achieve their best capable vision and eye health.
Dr. Shaye Wang, OD
Dr. Shaye Wang is a residency-trained optometrist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, followed by her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Dr. Wang completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Arizona College of Optometry, where she received advanced training in specialty contact lenses, dry eye management, and anterior segment disease. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, personalized, and compassionate eye care to every patient.
Drs. To, Hoshizaki, He, and Wang’s areas of concentration include:
- Providing comprehensive eye & contact lens exams.
- Myopia management, which means slowing the progression of nearsightedness in children.
- Fitting scleral lenses for patients with keratoconus, LASIK complications, and severe prescriptions.
- Fitting Neurolenses to alleviate chronic eye strain, headaches, and migraines.
Rosie – Optical Manager
Rosie studied Pharmacological Sciences with a specialized focus on extemporaneous and sterile compounding of medicine and chemotherapy. During her practice, she also educated and instructed pharmacy students in hands-on laboratory procedures for retail and hospital / infusion settings within Los Angeles and Orange County medical colleges.
She later discovered her passion for optometry and decided to pursue her career in the optical industry. With over 12 years of patient care experience in the medical field, Rosie continues her passion for providing outstanding medical care for our patients here at Lumen Optometric!
Tyler – Optical Technician
Tyler is a dedicated specialty lens optician here at Lumen Optometric , combining years of hospitality experience with a passion for vision care. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service ensure clients receive personalized eyewear solutions tailored to their needs.
Tyler stays current with the latest optical advancements to provide top-notch care. Outside of work, he enjoys capturing the beauty of nature and portraits through photography. Tyler looks forward to helping you see the world more clearly and comfortably.
Cassidy - Optician
Cassidy graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Business Economics. Having worn glasses, soft contact lenses, and orthokeratology lenses since childhood, she brings personal insight into the patient experience. At Lumen Optometric, Cassidy is committed to ensuring each patient feels welcomed and supported throughout their visit.
Outside of the office, Cassidy enjoys drawing, writing, and immersing herself in manga and webtoons. These creative outlets allow her to express herself, unwind, and stay inspired—adding a thoughtful, imaginative touch to everything she does.
Susan - Optician
Susan is a dedicated professional at Lumen Optometric, leveraging her extensive background as a credentialed teacher along with rich experience in customer care and case management. Her transition into optometry has been marked by her exceptional ability to enhance patient interactions and deliver outstanding service.
With a unique blend of professional expertise and a genuine passion for patient care, Susan ensures that every visit to Lumen Optometric is smooth and positive. Her commitment to high standards, professionalism, and personalized vision care makes her an invaluable member of our team.
Raissa - Specialty Lens Logistics
Raissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Following her graduation, she relocated to London, where she gained valuable experience as a Senior Healthcare Assistant in an elderly care home and as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital for four years. Before joining Lumen, she also successfully managed her own business.
At Lumen, Raissa assists the doctors and staff, and she takes great pleasure in her work within the field of optometry. Her positive outlook on life inspires her to deliver efficient customer service to both her colleagues and the patients at Lumen.
Imie - Billing & Soft Contacts Logistics
Imie has a bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology and is also an online English teacher. Her diverse background provides a strong foundation in healthcare, patient care, and effective interaction. Although new to optometry, Imie embraced the opportunity at Lumen with enthusiasm and has developed a genuine appreciation for the field.
Imie plays a key role in supporting daily operations by managing administrative tasks and streamlining processes with flexibility and precision. Imie’s attention to detail, software proficiency, and ability to connect with others have been invaluable to the clinic. She is committed to continuous learning while providing reliable and professional support.
Anna - Reception & Social Media Management
Annalyn is a skilled professional with a Bachelor of Business Administration major in Financial Management. She has also pursued educational units in education and successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in both business and education.
Annalyn has valuable experience in the medical industry, where she worked as a Patient Care Coordinator and a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Her expertise in managing both operational and clinical aspects of her role highlights her versatility and dedication to her profession. She transitioned to a career in optometry, where she continues to apply her skills in patient care and team management. This move reflects her passion for learning and her dedication to making a positive impact in a new field.
Remembering our friend and teammate, Jose
Jose – Forever a Part of the Lumen Family
Blending military discipline with a passion for helping others, Jose brings extensive experience to his role as an optician. With six years as a Marine Corps field artillery cannoneer, he developed strong leadership, precision, and teamwork skills. His military service, including travel across the Pacific, enriched his perspective and helped him connect with people from all walks of life.
Following his service, Jose pursued a background in psychology at Pasadena City College, gaining valuable insights into human behavior. Dedicated to providing top-notch optical care, Jose ensures each patient receives the highest standard of service. His unique background and dedication make him a friendly and trusted partner in achieving optimal vision health.
