Hello Cindy! Cindy’s rigid gas permeable lenses were failing her. They were becoming blurry throughout the day and required that she remove and clean them multiple times a day. That’s no way to live! Due to Cindy’s extremely severe prescription, glasses and soft contacts also weren’t great options, so we tried the best option; scleral lenses guided by scleral topography. Good news, they worked!
Irma had suffered from keratoconus for decades, wearing only the older-generation of correction, gas permeable lenses. She was introduced to the first generation of scleral lenses, but was unhappy with how they felt in her eyes and the sub-optimal vision. After measuring her eyes with the sMap3D scleral topographer to use as a starting point, we were able to fine tune both her fit and vision. Now she’s cruising!

Anthony was having a hard time dealing with his keratoconus prior to visiting Lumen. His vision was depressed and driving was difficult due to glare. We fit him into what we coined “scleral 2.0” lenses, the newest generation of scleral lenses that allow for maximum comfort and clarity. With comfort and clarity, Anthony’s now free to do anything without feeling limited by his vision!
Listen as Virginia tells her story about her visual journey with Keratoconus. Shortly after she was diagnosed with Keratoconus, she was fit with rigid gas permeable lenses (aka RGPs or “hard lenses”), which she found to be very uncomfortable. When she found us, we utilized special technology to measure the shape of her eyes (scleral topography via the sMap3D) to create scleral lenses that fit her eyes perfectly. These second generation scleral lenses were both comfortable and extremely clear for her.
